Best time to visit Kuwait
Kuwait has a hot desert climate with very hot summers and mild winters, so timing matters more than almost anything else.
Season by season
- November–March (best): pleasant days, cool nights, occasional rain. Ideal for sightseeing, parks, beaches and desert camping.
- April–May: warming up quickly. Dust storms are possible.
- June–September: extreme heat. Outdoor activity is best after sunset.
- October: temperatures start to ease.
Ramadan
During Ramadan, eating, drinking and smoking in public during daylight hours is not allowed, restaurants adjust their hours, and evenings come alive. It is a rewarding time to visit but plan around changed opening hours. See our Ramadan planning guide.
Public holidays and events
National Day is 25 February and Liberation Day is 26 February. Islamic holidays such as Eid move each year with the lunar calendar, so check dates before booking. Many places are busy and flights cost more around them.
Packing tips
- Light, breathable, modest clothing for outdoors
- A light jacket for air-conditioned malls and winter evenings
- Sun protection and a refillable water bottle
- Modest outfits for mosques and traditional areas
