Kuwait tourist visa: visa on arrival, e-Visa and requirements
Most visitors enter Kuwait in one of three ways: a visa on arrival, an online e-Visa, or a visa from a Kuwaiti embassy. Which one applies depends on your passport.
Three ways to enter Kuwait
- Visa on arrival: available only to passport holders who meet the current Ministry of Interior eligibility rules. Do not rely on older online nationality counts; confirm your eligibility and the documents required for your trip in the official portal.
- e-Visa: apply through the Ministry of Interior portal under the category that matches your visit. Requirements and processing times can vary; wait for official approval before making non-refundable travel plans.
- Embassy or consulate visa: required for nationalities that are not eligible for the first two routes. Apply well ahead of your trip.
Eligibility for GCC residents and other visa holders
GCC residency or a visa/residence permit from another country does not automatically guarantee entry. Eligibility depends on the current category-specific rules, passport, supporting documents and any conditions shown by the Ministry of Interior.
Documents the official portal may request
- Passport meeting the validity requirement shown for your visa category
- A passport-style photo and a clear scan of the passport data page
- Accommodation details in Kuwait (hotel booking or host address)
- Return or onward ticket
- Travel insurance or proof of funds when requested
- Residence permit copy for GCC-resident applications
Fees and stay length
Fees, permitted stay and extension rules depend on the visa category and the current official schedule. Check the exact amount and permitted duration shown by the Ministry of Interior before paying; the approved visa controls your stay.
Avoid visa scams
Use only the Ministry of Interior’s own e-Visa portal (kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw). Third-party “visa services” often charge extra for what the government process already does. Never send passport scans to unknown WhatsApp numbers.

Only passport holders who meet the current Ministry of Interior criteria can obtain a visa on arrival. Check the live eligibility information before travelling.
Is there an official Kuwait e-Visa website?
Yes. The official portal is run by the Ministry of Interior at kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw. Be careful with look-alike sites that add service fees.
How much does a Kuwait tourist e-Visa cost?
Fees can change by visa category and applicant circumstances. Use the amount displayed on the official Ministry of Interior portal before payment.

Eligibility depends on the visa category and your situation. Some nationalities must apply through a Kuwaiti embassy or consulate, so check the official eligibility list before you book flights.
