Rent Affordability Calculator for Kuwait
Estimate a practical rent budget using your take-home income and other monthly costs. Compare rent-to-income ratios before choosing a place to live.
Planning estimate only, not a rule about what rent you should pay. Include deposits, agency fees, shared housing, dependants and irregular expenses in your own decision.
How to use the rent calculator
Enter your monthly take-home income and expected costs in Kuwaiti dinars. The calculator estimates the share of income used by rent, your remaining money after the costs entered, and a simple annual remainder.
Before signing a rental agreement
- Ask what utilities and building services are included.
- Budget for deposit, moving costs and possible agency fees.
- Check the commute to work and whether transport costs change by area.
- Keep a buffer for medical, family and unexpected expenses.

How to judge the result
Look at both the rent share and the money left after every cost you entered. A rent amount can look manageable as a percentage of salary but still leave too little for food, transport, family support or savings. Run the calculator again with a higher utility bill or a lower-income month to see how sensitive the budget is.
Costs people often forget
- One-time security deposit, agency charge and moving costs.
- Electricity, water, internet, parking and building maintenance if they are not included.
- Furniture, appliance replacement and transport from the chosen neighbourhood.
- Annual travel, medical costs and money sent to family.
Compare the full first-year cost, not only the advertised monthly rent. Ask for every payment and responsibility to be written into the rental agreement before paying.
